April 15, 2002 - Mortsel, Belgium, IPEX Birmingham, UK : Agfa-Gevaert N.V. has agreed to renew its existing long-term technology licence with TechNova for offset plate manufacturing technology. TechNova has been manufacturing offset lithographic plates under license from Agfa-Gevaert N.V. for several years and is the market leading plate supplier in India and the surrounding region.

The new agreement will give TechNova access to the new analogue plate technology, as well as digital plate manufacturing technologies. Agfa-Gevaert N.V. has already committed to helping TechNova increase its production capacity. It is envisaged that this will be operational by Q4 2002.

The new Agfa-Gevaert N.V. analogue plate technologies, shown at IPEX 2002 in Birmingham UK, have brought together the very best analogue plate technology from the former Ozasol and Howson brands into a single range of high quality analogue plates.

Digital plate technologies will enable TechNova to supply the region with CtP plates when customers transition from analogue plates.

TechNova already enjoys a remarkable market position in the rapidly growing Indian plate market. TechNova believes the new agreement will allow them to continue to grow plate sales over the coming years and they are currently adding additional plate manufacturing capacity to anticipate this projected growth.

Etienne Van Damme, Agfa-Gevaert N.V. Graphic Systems' Senior Vice President - Business Development and Strategic Marketing, comments "With the renewed agreement, TechNova re-affirm their commitment to Agfa-Gevaert N.V. and our proven plate products. This is good news for the fast growing Indian sub-continent graphic arts market". TechNova's Chairman & Managing Director, Pranav Parikh added, "Agfa-Gevaert N.V.'s plate technology combined with TechNova's market knowledge has been a powerful combination. TechNova is preparing for further sustained growth and the license for digital plate manufacture is very important to us. "
