The World Economic Forum is the foremost international organisation integrating leaders from business, government and academia into a partnership committed to improving the state of the world. It is widely known for its Davos Global Economic Summit and various Regional Economic Summits.

Incorporated since 1971 as a foundation, the World Economic Forum is independent, impartial and not-for-profit, tied to no political, partisan or national interests. It has a consultative status with the United Nations.

The World Economic Forum motto is : "Entrepreneurship in the global public interest". The Awards are to recognise and encourage mid-size entrepreneurial companies that have achieved double-digit growth rates over the past few years in the global arena.
